Egypt works on a different scale of time than almost anywhere else I have researched. Standing at Giza at dawn, before the heat and the crowds, it is easy to understand why the pyramids have generated more myth, misreading and genuine mystery than perhaps any other structure on Earth.
For this series I spent time with archaeologists working along the Nile, and in the storage rooms of museums where the genuinely strange finds so rarely make it to public display. Much of what ends up in a thriller is quieter and stranger than fiction would dare invent on its own.
